Banko ware, a representative traditional craft from Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Japan, is handcrafted by Mori Irohisa, the fourth-generation master craftsman who holds the title of Japanese Traditional Craftsman. This "Yusamashi" (a tea utensil used in the sencha ceremony to cool boiling water to the optimal brewing temperature) showcases the ultimate craftsmanship of Banko ware.

This piece employs the "diamond cutting" technique, a unique creation of the third-generation master craftsman. Using specialized tools, the artisan meticulously carves unique geometric facets resembling a kanoko pattern, giving the teaware a sophisticated and captivating metallic sheen under light. Made of stoneware, the unglazed interior of the Bango ware absorbs impurities from the water, resulting in a sweeter and smoother tea liquor. The box includes a guide to the artisan's pottery history, making it highly valuable for both collection and practical use.
