Mignardises is a French word referring to “small treats served after a meal.” The design of this piece is inspired by the delightful atmosphere created when an array of exquisite desserts is placed on the table. The floral motif, applied using a copperplate transfer technique, adds depth and an elegant touch to the surface.
In Belgium, vibrant floral scenery can be admired throughout the seasons, and flower-viewing is woven into the local way of life. This series highlights two familiar yet iconic plants: the fragrant yellow freesia, often found in gardens, and the charming blue lily of the valley that blooms in spring forests. Based on hand-drawn sketches, the patterns are rendered in soft colors and delicately transferred onto the surface of the ware using traditional copperplate printing techniques.
