This Shigaraki-ware rice bowl from Shiga Prefecture, Japan, is specially designed for storing and reheating rice. Simply portion the rice and store it in the refrigerator or freezer. When you want to eat it, microwave the bowl to reheat it and it will have a fluffy texture almost like freshly cooked rice. The key lies in the unglazed structure inside the lid: it absorbs excess moisture, reducing condensation and soggy conditions, preventing water accumulation during storage; during heating, it also allows the right amount of moisture to seep back into the rice grains, resulting in a full, distinct texture that is neither too dry nor too wet. The ceramic pot heats evenly, allowing the rice to warm up quickly and evenly throughout. The 600ml capacity is suitable for one to two people, making it more hygienic for portioning and easier to control heating time. Usage Recommendations
Let cool until warm but not hot to the touch before placing in a bowl and covering. Refrigerate/freeze. When ready to eat, microwave directly, starting with medium-low power and gradually increasing the time depending on the portion size. After heating, let it sit for about 30–60 seconds before opening the lid. This allows steam to seep back in for a better taste and avoids burning your hands.
